Why shouldn't he? AFAICS bought in good faith, for sale in good faith. If he'd been karma'd them then fair enough, and I reckon he's being a bit greedy but if you don't ask you don't get.
Some people are odd. I'd have no qualms whatsoever about buying here and selling on Ebay or vice versa whilst trying to make a few quid to fund something else.
