Old Claudbutler seeks a new home

A little detective work today to try and date Claud. The initial search for the 4 figure frame number gives 1938, hmm ok. All of the bikes in the 1938 have headclip headsets, not 1938. We know it's a Road/Track model because of the top tube transfer. So I start to trawl the catalogues and arrive at 1951. I'm sure Claud is this date. First clue, Bi-lam and welded frames have an 1 1/8" top tube, check. Second clue, it's mentioned by name three times in. See catalogue entry. Why only four figures? I don't know. Did someone miss stamping a one?
Numbers for 1938, 3201-4700.
Numbers for 1951, 13001-16080.

Seat tube 24.5" centre to top
Top tube 22.5" centre to centre
Rear spacing 110mm
Front spacing 95mm

Wheels are in the truing stand to see if they can be trued and the nipples move. If not it's a wheel build.
