M950 with M952?

I've started a new build and have got hold of some XTR M950 shifter/leavers which are 8 speed can i use a M952 crank set and M952 rear mach with these shifters and a 8 speed cassette? or does it all have to be the same to work properly?

Isn't M950 rpaid rise? If it is then you mech will have to be be rapid rise also. I am not sure if the M952 mech are low-normal.

As for a 9 speed chainset with an 8 speed chain, I see no problem. Shifting might be a little less than perfect but it should shift fine.
