m750 v brake fitting issue

I'm rebuilding my old trial bike and am fitting m750 xt v brakes on my dmr sidekick frame.
However they don't seem to fully seat against the brake boss on the frame and the little spring pin that fits in the hole only just reaches.
Basically they don't pass over the nut section of the brake boss.
I have m950 xtr v brakes which i tried and they did clear the nut.

Any ideas?

Take a file to that section :?

TBH you dont normally undo the stud itself unless bent and ive never seen one bent in use ever. Or one bend in use rather. And with the adaptors you have there its the screws you would use to on/off it.

Which means its sacrificial.
