A question for all the experts out there...

I've just bought some LX M567 STI's, new old stock from ebay.

They were listed as for V brakes. Is this correct?

The only info google turned up was that they were for cantis.

Any help much appreciated

I'm pretty sure the LX ST-M567 8-speed STI's are V-brake levers; the LX ST-M560 7-speed were the last of the canti's...

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong

they predate V-brakes.

the first LX V-brakes were the M600, and these didnt have an STI option as far as i know

I think you are right, V-brakes for LX didnt come out until 1997, and they were the 1st ones. Up until then LX 560-563-565-567 where canti,

Here confirms this - http://datenbanken.freepage.de/traut/SHIMANO.html

So what exactly is this then?

It's Deore LX, it says M563 (from '94 apparently?) underneath and it's a V-brake lever yes?

Or am I missing something here?

Thanks thats a really useful link.

I can see that the M567 sti's were introduced in 1996 and were paired with canti brakes.

In 1997, lx V brakes were introduced alongside seperate shifter pods and levers, though the cantis and sti's were still available.

Slightly confused about 1998 though. :?

In 98, both sti's and pod shifters were listed, however, only V brakes were listed. Does that mean 1998 lx sti's should be paired with V brakes?
