Lx M567 STI's

Think I'm definitely living on another planet!!

According to the list everyone is refering to LX M563 were introduced in '94, through '95 and were replaced in '96 - am I right so far?

I have just posted a photo I took only 40 minutes ago of MY LX M563 on my Lavadome, in my shed, in my garden and they are most definitely V-brake levers...

...and they are NOT seperate units!

Just like THESE...

Yeah, nice yellow V brakes.

Have you had the bike from new or could the V brakes be a later addition.

How do they work with those sti's?

Because they're s*dding V-brake levers that's why!

Canti-levers don't have the metal bracket the cable fits into, the cable goes straight into the groove/hole in the end of the lever...

...and the Lavadome is built up out of parts-bin spares thus:-

the M563's will work with V brakes - any lever that pulls cable will work with any V brake or any canti.

it's not designed to work with them and wont work very well. Teh ST M563 levers pull a relatively small amount of cable with a reasonable amount of force. With a V brake you get very powerfull braking but because the lever doesnt move much cable you either run the brakes very very close to the rim or the brake lever is at the bar before anything happens.

Sadly they are not they are cantilever levers - they pre-date Shimanos introduction of V'ees by a few years

Do I sense some frustration?

I've got a Dawes edge that has 7 speed lx shifters on, I think they are M563's, I'll check later. I've also got some M560's which are slightly older.

I'll check them for how the cable end is seated.

Once the M567's get delivered I'll also compare them.

I'm beginning to think I have too many...

If nothing else, I'll know all there is to know about 90's lx shifters soon

M567's are not V brae levers either i'm afraid.

The "LX" V brakes were the M600 - BL M600 and BR M600

There was no LX V brake STI unit till the ST M570 which was a 9 speed

What am I missing!

the fact that the LX lever in the second pic just has a free floating anchor point for the brake cable it still measures about 25 mm from pivot to anchor point whereas a V lever measures approx 35 mm.
