Excellent find! Glad you posted pics of it as it has settled a niggling doubt in my head about my Alpinestars. Every pic I've looked at of the non e-stay frames didn't seem to tie-in with mine. Cable routings were always different than on mine, but this looks very similar.
Whats the s/no?

Here's mine...

Think yours is a MS Racing repainted makster as you say. The decals give it away alpinestars has always been one word, yours reads alpine stars. Can't ever remember the colors being monotone until 1992 either. That vicar eh!

Still a cracking bike for the money and now an even rarer one too.

Snap, Nice, and loving the colour on your one makster, I'll get the serial no tomorrow(bikes in the shed and it's coldddd outside )

I'm going to take it apart and give it a good clean, and a service this weekend, having said that, it still rides well though,and the only thing wrong with it at the moment is the front shifter's jammed, but yep will check everything properly tomorrow.

I have a 1990 pre E Stay Cro mega and the cable routing goes

rear brake = Top tube left hand side
rear mech = Top tube right hand side, right stay
front mech = Down tube underneath and central

rear brake = Tope tube, right hand side
rear mech = Down tube, Right hand side
front mech = Down tube, left hand side

Its like mine is a mix of both an early cro mega and an MS Racing :?
