I've just been reading We_are_stevo's Karma Ti thread...

What I'd do with it is probably irrelevant, I'm not getting a number

What I did get was some of the attitude that 'Stevo got, straight up insults and stuff - tucked in amongst some good hardcore tech

Differing opinions are all good to share, even forcefully but ultimately matters of taste or judgement are just that. I feel repeatedly battering away at somebody with your differing opinion is just pointless

This reminded me of my thread of dread where I altered a stem and got tangled up in loads of arguments

My thread like Stevo's got lost in a sea of arguments, I've quietly carried on and will just post it when done - Ordinarily I love arguing but when you say the same thing to 700th snarker, gets a bit draining

So...

What do you think about arguing all over a thread?

How far do you go in pushing your opinion?

...Insults?

What's the most annoying thread-jack you've experienced?

Or thread-bombing: the hit and run snarky comment?

Or am I just a big baby for even wondering about these questions?

you should read my amywinehouse thread...or even better still the "its kicking off in london"epic that occured a while back...

Bingo!

Thousands of users on one forum. Who on earth would think that we'd all get on?

Why should we?

If I was stood in a room with 10,000 people, I'd expect to not have the same view as lots of them, and I'd expect lots of them to disagree with my views. The difference is that when you're stood in a room, you don't necessarily hear others views, on a forum like this you can't avoid them.

Just because we all like old bikes doesn't mean we share the same politics, musical tastes, views on euthanasia or sexual preferences.

I'm a baby? Maybe... You've basically just gone and agreed with the possibility I offered and not said anything I hadn't already said! so get back here and expand on that!

Differing opinions are the point of a forum, and in my question I state that... Even forcefully delivered... So what's your differing angle?

Taking your room of 10,000 people:

Would you listen to a conversation, then say 'that's crap' and leg it (thread-bomb)

Or get involved in a conversation, where your view point is contrary, carry on persistently re-iterating your opinion even when it has been heard and now others are attempting to move the conversation on? (thread-jack)

Or would you feel it was OK to cruise around around levelling direct insults at people, in this room?

.

In enjoy hearing/veiwing other peoples opinions/ideas.
But, sometimes people are just wrong and will argue black is white in a vain attempt to dig themselves out of the enormous hole they have dug for themselves :D
All highly amusing when veiwed from a distance
But obviously not highly amusing when said 'digging' is directly levelled at some poor well meaning chap who's just trying to do the right thing  :D

Anyway, its sunday morning, the kettles just boiled and there's toast to be eaten
