Locking skewers

ETC locking skewers, front, rear and seat post off evilbay. They look like they are allen key, but are not, they require a special tool which comes with the set, a five sided allen if indeed an Allen can be five sided, but they so far, do the job. Only problem with them, is the special tool, the five sided allen has a habit of falling off, so if you get those, do yourself a favour, glue and peen.

Furthermore, replace allen key fixed things with pin hex or torx and regards the seat and post, fit a Seat Keeper, or a Hite Rite. The former can be made very easily and negates the need for a seat post lock.

The Zefal one I have seen, but ruled out as there must be a gravity operated locking pin in there and to me that thing down low where mud, water and other crap is, is a recipe for the thing getting stuck, filth or moisture equals corrosion.

About the best I think, is the pin lock variety, but special tool needed, a tool that can bet lost.

Well I ordered some from ebay..the lower end of the market. Only to find the hex key end with the spinning collar is on one side only...on the other end is a typical hand spin attachment piece of pee to undo.. so at least they are 50% secure..wtf.

I may use cheap locks to match the big lock I have for now and save up for pin or pit locks

oooh i thought you knew this!!

they are still more secure than qrs, just do em up real tight
then theyd need an allen key and a bit of time to undo it

Nope I have to plead ignorance on this as it is the 1st time I've needed skewer locks in all the years I've had a bike, still lesson learned
