Just a thought......

I was out with SPESHMIKE last night, and after hammering our local route we were saying that we bet nobody else knows our route. So, that got me thinking that maybe we should share it with others

And, I'm sure you all have your local tracks that you would share?

So, why dont we create a Local Rides link/thread facility on our site with an area search!! Anyone agree?

However, as I dont have anything to do with running this site, I have to ask the Bosses, is it possible? :?

Mr K did a nice thing with googlemaps I think where you can actually draw out the route on a map. I'd be more than happy to share my trails. I think this is a top idea.

Anyone have any ideas on what would be the easiest way of doing it? :?

I had a go earlier on googlemaps and managed to plot a route, but couldn't save it somehow. I guess it'd be easy enough to do a screen dump and upload. I'll have a go now and see where it gets us. Ask Mr Kawasaki how he did his for the Peak meet. I'll get back to you.

I just think it would be nice to be able to pop to a different area a blast a route. Maybe, an area search, offer up a map of the route and who the local Retroriders are??

With a bit of tweaking, that could be just right

Maybe add a few 'local knowledge' notes like: enter woods, footpath, water crossing, cross road etc.

So, if we agree, where do we take it from here????

just like the magazine and catalogue scans, we could build up a fantastic library of good off road routes with all the local knowledge between us...
