Just took a trundle to the local powdercoating shop, get a quote for the Avalanche frame.

Just plain white, nothing special...

As long as I didn't want it quick (i.e. up to a 4 week turnaround  ) they could do it for £80....

Just for shits and giggles I asked about polishing (I gave up on that a while back)... off he trundles, with the frame, to the workshop .. I heard him chuckle as he came back through the door.. £130. .

That's just a ludicrous price :x

Either taking the pi55, or just didn't want the work, so bumped the price up. Shouldn't really cost ya much more than £30 to £40 for the powdercoat.

I know the names of a few companies down there that can do the blasting for you, and a couple of powdercoaters too.

He was banging on about how much of a tricky job it is, that they do frames for a local bloke who's into old bikes blah blah blah. . .
I sort of glazed over at £80 . .

lgf posted the name of an RB'er who done a frame for him, just need to source the post and see what gives..

And I know a very good sprayer in Essex..

Building options.. time is on my side ;)

I rang 2 around here (both in Preston), one quoted £40-50 and another £45 for blast and recoat a bike frame.

Neither would buy the specific colour in for such a small job.

Theres a good thread on LFGSS with powder coat colours.

This chap was going to acid dip it . . . I thought blasting was the accepted method of prepping. .

I haven't got around to having it done yet, so I can't comment personally, but I found this company searching for recommendations on this site: http://www.windridge.co.uk/content.php/410410

They're certainly not the cheapest, but one of the few I found that make specific reference to bicycle frames and Broadstairs in Kent isn't that far from Essex, if you have a boat. :D

Dagenham Dan. . . Wifes mother lives there (and I'm from Barking, a mere white stilletto's throw from 'nam)

Will check him out 8)
