Ok, we have six people interested, enough to put in an order. I'll let it run a bit longer (how long?) then will post a separate thread and will need to get cash upfront before I place the order with a 6 week lead in time.

In the meantime, anyone seriously keen please express an interest - I won't put in an order for less than six anyway and am unlikely to do a repeat for less than six unless you want to pay one off prices (WAY expensive).

Its a fantastic/cool/ brilliant idea. After the thread i posted awhile back, i've pretty much set on the design i would have. I'd love a retrobike one, but given the expense of two (i'd still have the one in my mind too) and the lack of use it will get, its a none starter for me. Looking forward to the results though 8)

It's not as flash as a courier bag, but you can get a professionally printed newspaper delivery bags as used by paperboys in flourescent orange or yellow printed with whatever logo you like for about £10, if you buy in bulk.
I'd buy one that cost £10, but I can't justify £130.

Gold thread eh? :D

I've been using an altura courier bag for about ten years ,it cost £20 new ,£130 is a crazy price for a bag,That said ,i'd really love one ,but i just cant justify £130
Perhaps one of the many millionaires that frequent this site

dont mean to offend but all the retrobike stuff, jumpers ,t's etc are really expensive
my mates and i had jumpers made up for a regatta ,they cost us £15
And they were very well embroidered on a good quality material
A mate owns a cnc embroidery machine ,it costs about £4 to logo a t shirt ,price includes the t shirt and any colour embroidery

If one of the mods wants to have t's, socks, sweatshirts etc embroidered with the new logo,pm me and ill arrange a contact,it's good to get other prices to compare against

Nice useful post 'dyna-ti'

Please see Ed's post above regarding the courier bags and the pricing.

By 'jumpers' i assume you mean jerseys? The other RB clothing is very reasonably priced. I think you need to compare the pricing against other cycling garments rather than what you might get from 'regatta'/aldi/the sunday market/bin liners/out of a skip/asda.

Regarding the t-shirts what does your mate use? Retrobike use quality 207 gsm Gildan Ultra T's - I'm sure our 100s of satisified customers will vouch for the quality. As for an embroidered t-shirt

I can write retrobike on a sainsburys bag in marker and send you that for £1 if that suits?

In all seriousness I really don't appreciate the negative comments on pricing on this thread.

The bags are a custom design which we're selling on at cost. If you have issue please contact bagaboo directly. I suspect you'll get shorter shrift from them than us.

Half (near as damn it) of the people who took time to respond to this think that the price is an issue. Would sourcing a more affordable alternative really be that much of a problem?

No Russ, it is not a problem, hence my saying above that I was looking into more economical alternatives.

However getting to the stage we are at does not happen overnight, it takes lots of communication back and forth, finding a supplier, getting the quote, negotiating on price etc. - we want Retrobike to stand for quality which means quality merchandise and, hey, you have to pay a price for that. As before, we all make a choice if it is for us.

Apologies for sounding a bit tetchy but starting to wish I hadn't bothered (although there at least 7 discerning gentleman who are not baulking at the price for a premium product, starting to think I priced too cheap and should have approached Rapha. Coming soon, Assos Retrobike jerseys  )

"The quality remains long after the price is forgotten." Sir Henry Royce (he had some sort of business involvement with a Mr Rolls if I remember correctly).
