Latest pile 'o bits - 1988 Marin Bear Valley

I brought this cheapie off gumtree last week, and have already started stripping back to see what's what. Seems to be a fairly original 1988 model BV with chainstay U-brake, everything is Exage Mountain / 200GS, rims are ARAYA on Exage hubs with 6sp screw on block at the back. Paint is a bit tatty, but not terrible for 25 years. Probably just clean the frame and touch it up the worst scrapes.

Plan is to replace the headset which has completely cracked, clean the rust off the spokes, true up the wheels etc, apart from that just a shedload of cleaning up to be done. Maybe upgrade some bits and bobs for better/lighter parts, I haven't fully decided yet, I'm actually in two minds on that!

Some improvements made. Getting there slowly in small gaps between festive activities... not much changed except the terminally knackered headset, manky grips and exage shifters.
