I am looking to putting down a laminate floor in my sister's conservatory.

It is approx 3 m deep by 4 m wide with concrete floor.

Which way round should the boards go? length ways (as in red lines) or widthways (as in blue lines), and why?

widthways the boards will be shorter so should be eaiser to handle.

I'd do red lines.

Based on nothing other than I think it would look better.

Or astroturf.

Or zen gravel patterns.

And install a strobe light.

But I am an idiot.

Red for two reasons

First it will make it look wider and two your walking across it so less likely to loosen it unlike walking inline with it

Dude, sorry to say, it's lengthways..........red lines.

Looks better, a LOT less cutting ( not really so difficult cutting along the length...)

Most important.............LEAVE A GOOD SIZED EXPANSION GAP ALL THE WAY AROUND.........ask me how I know.........

As others have said length ways would be quicker to lay as there are less cuts but at the end of the day its up to the customer/Sister so its probably best to lay a few boards out either way and let her decide. After all its her that has to live with it  Above all else get a decent underlay and if the floor has any dips get some self levelling latex. Oh and make sure you know what thickness of skirting/bead you are fitting and leave your expansion gaps 3mm smaller. ie 12mm skirt = 9 mm expansion gap.

Or blue lines so the light from the biggest glazed area is shining along the joins rather than across them :)

I'd go red, though.

red most definitely, less cuts and longer boards are always better...

plus where the doors are, depending on the length of boards you are using. you can do it without leaving a joint exposed at the doorways if you know what i mean...

It will look tidier.
