Kurust question

I've got a frame that needs a bit of rust treatment. Been reading a few old topics about Kurust and it sounds like what I'm after. The frame is going to be sandblasted and powder coated soon and I was wonder if it's best to use the Kurust before or after the sandblast/repaint and what peoples' experiences of it are? The Kurust is going inside the frame, BTW.

Used this on cars before and you do not need to overpaint it as it is like a primer really,I would do it after the primer is applied to the frame so you do not ruin your new paint work.

Yep, used it quite a lot, looks like milk when you brush it on, turns the rust black (turns skin black too), seal up all the holes except the seattube, pour a bottle of it inside the frame and let it slosh around, should be fine at that as Marin Man said but i'd blast a can of Waxoyl inside too and the frame will still be around in 150 years :D

Thanks for the replies, so best to do it before? Does it stain badly enough to ruin paintwork? Would the Kurust be affected by the heat of the powdercoat oven? Just thinking, when it comes back from powdercoating the inside will definitely be dry after being in the oven. Sorry for all these questions, just want to get it right.

It reacts with the rust to change it into iron phosphate, which is stable. I don't think it will be damaged by powdercoat baking.
