Kona vs GT

I've always owned and liked GT's. I suppose I have an attachment because of the history and memories I've aquired. That said, all of them are pre-1998, and I lost interest in them after they sold out.
I would like to own and ride an old Kona though, I've always liked the look of their steel hartails.

I'd never go for a modern GT or a modern Kona though.

GT went bust or almost so as a brand that has to stand out, the triple triangle thing is a good start.

I've owned new stuff and it just didnt feel as if it was built to last.

2006 Stuff
2005 Dr.Dew

Both a bit of a let down.

For me the Kona vs GT decision was simple: I like to ride a frame long enough to stretch me out a little but I don't like the sound my nuts make when they smack against a top tube. So I ride a Kona.

... or sounding like a girl after that?

Exactly. Better to ride a girl's frame than to end mixte-ed up about your sexuality...

IE, they are simple, work well and dont rely on gimmicks to make sales (triple triangle, whats the point?).
Best thing about GT's was the anodized colour finishes that you used to get on the Zaskars.

My GT also works well with its triple triangle and funny cable routing, so I don't care if it is gimmicky. You could point at any design feature on almost any mountain bike and someone would classify it as a gimmick.
There's lots of Konas about, and frankly, I think they're rather boring.
