Interesting job. Agree it looks very neat. I've mounted v-brakes on three retro frames that were canti specific and never had to do any modification.

Did you frames have a rearward facing cable stop on the top tube? if not I struggle to see how you've done it with no modification????

Must have. My first bike was a 92 Stumpjumper (I replaced the canti's on that bike when I sold it so the frame was unmodified), the second was a 90's era Hillside which had a canti hanger built in and the last was my 96 Zaskar in which I used the cable guide as proxy stop for the v-brakes. Worked like a charm.

I guess I've just been lucky over the years. Lots of nice neat looking solutions here though.

Love this thread, just did a quick conversion to my 96 Kona Kilauea while I wait for the iLink cable to arrive. Works pretty well but will be good to get it tidied up.

Also need to get a cable stop rather than using the original cable guide turned at 90 degs. The cable goes on a bit of an angle. Works well. Much better than Canti's.

Thanks one and all.
