Kona Rear V brake conversion - Done - Show us yours !

I used a clamp on stop, not that pretty but works

TBH I may take of the clamp and try and get the anodizing off so it's silver fitting in with the frame better

i have the same one as you neil . silver would look better to go with the ti . i wish it didnt have the writing . might rummage around for a longer bolt , the one it comes with doesnt engage all the treads , i can see it pulling them one day

16" frame with nokon section . keeps the cable well out of the way of my heel

I think you may struggle with a V brake conversion on the plastic canti guide, fine with canti's but will not be man enough for V brakes

I disagree - because V's have twice the cable motion they also have half the cable tension - that's why they work so well.

I just went for the "drilling" technique as well. Just used a drill bit that is the same width as outer and drilled halfway through the guide. Works a treat and looks very neat and tidy. :) (I won't be using canti's again, but could if need be as half the guide still has an inner width hole through it).

Interesting job. Agree it looks very neat. I've mounted v-brakes on three retro frames that were canti specific and never had to do any modification. I've found going the other way a bigger issue for post 97 frames.

Did you frames have a rearward facing cable stop on the top tube? if not I struggle to see how you've done it with no modification????
