Hi, i've just myself a 95 kona hahanna and the decal's on the fork leg's are looking tatty and let the side down. They are the one's that run lengh way's from top to bottom. Any idea's where i may get a set as cant find any on the bay. Also, this bike has cheap canti's on it and i have a set of avid v-brakes for it but the cable run on the rear go's through a mount that is on the seat post, so i was wondering what is the best way to sort it as i can only think of running an outer cable from the front cable guide along the top tube to the v brake noodle and that will look crap. Hope you can help. Many thank's guy's. Ta Dave. :D

i've made several posts on the rear v-brake thing. there are a few ways to do it, including drilling out the rear brake collar to take a housing - i've done this

You can use v-brakes using the rear canti clamp as pic shown below:-

Hope this helps

Or you can use the noodle and a shorter length of outer.

Just bend the noodle a little so that you have the smoothest run.

Thank's guy's, im gona drill the cable clamp out tomorrow and use that. Thank's for the tip's! Any idea if it is worth using the kona brake lever's or shall i use the avid lever's. I heard that canti lever's dont have the same pull ratio but the kona lever's are in nice condition and and are obviously branded. Thank's Dave. :D

Try and get one of the "stepped" type of cable ferrules and just drill out the collar enough for the smaller diameter section to be (ideally) a press fit. It's better than having to drill out to 5mm for a normal parallel ferrule.

As far as using canti levers with V brakes goes - try it and see. You won't be pulling as much cable as with V levers which means you may find that you don't get as much pad movement as you would like (can't get enough rim clearance) and the feel may be too "spongy" for your liking.

Use a "top hat" step down washer as said already. I have a load & can send you one. No drilling out required!

re: canti levers

they might work, u'll get used to the squassy feel I might run the "wrong" levers cause they are really light... but on the other hand avids are good, but a bit boring. and one shall always search for adventures braking! hehe
