Kona paint codes

I have a 1991 Lava Dome in purple in need of a re-spray. Does anyone know the code for this colour or perhaps a suitable alternative. Did have a quick glance at the motor bike swatches in Hafords, Aprillia have a similar colour but I didn't have the frame with me for direct comparison.

I rescued the frame from the recycling bin so I only have the LX cantis and levers so I'm on the lookout for the rest of the LX 500 kit

Argos in Bristol have dealt with Kona's for some time and might help you. They have colours on their web site but if you live near to Bristol they will be able to match your existing frame. They won't do it by photos. If you live near Reading, AW Cylces have larger colour samples. Hope this may help.

resprays and decals

Hi

I too am in the middle of a 91 Kona restoration project. I am getting my decals from Gil_M. You should give some thought to the respray process and the effect that this might have on your decals. Gil_M tells me that some respray services can affect the quality of your decal finish. Just a thought, but if you are going to invest time and money in your pride and joy you should probably do it properly rather than bodge it. I have tried a home respray myself before and the results weren't great (although I do admit to a certain degree of incompetence).

I am planning to go with Argos cycles in Bristol although the arrival of my new son may complicate the finances for a while.
