Kona P2 forks £12 BIN

A project two with 140mm steerer is not worth more than £10 to me, so I bid accordingly.

so you've now lost your bargin £10+a short wait forks for the sake of £2+a buy-it-now ? and you did'nt see it coming ? and your not shy telling the forum that you did it either .

whats wrong ? you fall out with the wife , batter the dog and wipe out someones chance of a bargin ?

I don't consider them a bargain subjectively, as I might not actually use them ... there is a difference between a bargain you need and a good price for something you don't need.

I have two sets of P2s sitting doing nothing, I am glad I didn't blindly add another set I may not have a use for.

Meanwhile someone will still get them near the BIN price, and probably someone who needs them for a project.

If I ever argue with my wife we usually find a way of dealing with it that is a bit more constructive than going on eBay to bid on bicycle parts ... the product of one of these is perhaps the recipient of those forks for a small Kona frame I am sourcing...

Both my dogs are rescued, the idea of hitting them is anathema to me, as with kids I don't believe in physical violence as an instructional device. I have been involved in enough violence myself as an adult to understand how negative it is.

I have no need to justify my eBay practises, I was explaining that I bid based on what I consider the right price, subjectively. I could care less if that is a few quid short of a BIN. In the long game I am playing a blinder.

I used to import a lot of music gear, I would routinely bid on 50 items a day, always underbidding the expected price. I needed to ensure my margin existed for importation and sale.

That is my approach to bidding, I always bid my maximum at the final whistle, and if I see my margin in a BIN price I hit the BIN.

Only because of the 130mm aspect I opted to bid instead of BIN.

If I feel moved to I will go back and bid again.

I often use BIN.

If I was not doubtful about the 130cm steerer I would have had them.

P2s in good nick under £15 are generally a bargain, agreed.

ANY pair of forks sitting around my garage when they should be out on a period bike is a waste, and I am very glad someone who needs them is going to have the time to see the auction and snag them.

If I needed them £25 would have been fine with me.

I am SORRY if I 'spoiled' someone's chances of a bargain, though it is odd someone who was discussing it prior to my bid had not hit the BIN already if they were then so gutted to miss a bargain...

I will in future refrain from bidding on anything posted up here with a BIN unless I am using that BIN.

Meanwhile, anyone who wants those forks for £12 please go ahead and bid what you need to get them.

I will make up the difference between what you pay and the BIN of £12 with some items from my shed.

How about a pair of P2s with a decent length steerer?

;)

If I decide I need them I don't mind paying a bit more than £12. Better to pay a little more than end up with a set of forks I don't need and have the hassle of sending them on to someone else.

Don't know who this refers to as looking at the thread there was no discussion before the BIN was gone, just some helpful input from Anthony.

I posted them because from my "subjective" point of view they were a bargain. I don't need them because I also have P2s in stock. If I had needed them the BIN button would have been hit and this thread wouldn't exist.

I have explained that the forks are only useful for a small proportion of Kona frames. That means that it isn't worth as much as most P2s are worth. I imagine that the seller knows that, and it may explain why they set the very low (but accurate) BIN price.

However eBay bidders who haven't read this thread would generally not know it, so it wouldn't be surprising if, once the BIN was lost, the price reached a normal P2 price. And it may be that the purchaser will find out too late that it isn't suitable for his frame.

Appreciate that.

It seems to me that the complaint here is with eBay's process and options, and that is not down to me. :)

I believe we were all just having a bit of fun with you, since you outed yourself as the one who got rid of the BIN.

It happens all the time...no worries

Accepted Anthony, but it could also be put forward that no one will now rush into a BIN, which is normally how one ends up with something that is not appropriate one perhaps does not deserve because one was worried it would be sold by the time one checked up. ;)
