Kona Lava Dome 1993 - Part 1 - The Stripdown!

Hi Folks

Have been stripping the bike today to get it painted prior to the Build.

Excuse ignorance but can somebody tell me how to post photos?

I have Stripped down the bike and just got Sugino XD450 crankset and bottom bracket to remove before painting.

I really like what 8Lezard has done with his (mine wont be nearly as comprehensive I am sure). In particular I like the one colour scheme but I think I will have it re-painted in the same two tone blue and silver as standard 1993.

What do you all think?

Cheers

Dave

Classic Kona. Looking forward to seeing some rebuild pics.

As for colour, any way of recreating the original is good, think that grey/purple is a combo hard to beat.

Oh, and if you didn't know drop gil_m a line for decals.

Hi, Does it really need a respray ? It looks not bad from the pics, The 93 paintwork is really quite special imo, Have you given it a good clean and a spot of polish ?

By the time you have added a clean chainset, cassette, chain and maybe some nice DX mechs  to complment the thumbies I reckon it will look tops.

Its a mess, the pics are telling porkies!

Rusty, needs forks welded, dented etc......

Not sure whether to go with two tone or go with a gunmetal like the Hei Hei of the same era.

Hi dave, my '95 cinder is in bits and about to get the same treatment so I have pulled up my proverbial chair.....
