what happend with that sale ? last time I saw a Kilauea from that vintage on Ebay it went for slightly over 100 quid, but that was for the full bike. I was willing to go to 165, but 205 :o
Compaired with that my 96 Explosif frame, incl. Kona OE seatpost, was a "bargain" for € 190 incl. P & P :?

eBay is always a bit of a lottery, but I wouldn't criticise the buyer for spending £205 on this.

OK, it's more than he would be likely to get back if he sold it, and I personally don't like to pay more than I could get back, but say he has decided to spend £50-100 more than its asset value - lots of people spend money without having an asset to show for it. Holidays, women, drink, whatever. Once it's gone it's gone. At least he's got a nice frame, and he could be riding around on it in a couple of weeks.

And his alternative was to keep on looking and maybe wait six months, a year, whatever to find one as nice. So he 'wasted' £50-100 and got his ride a year early. I don't think that's silly really, if it's what he wanted to do.

Well, gone are the days of picking up a bargain. I too bid on this - but lost out. As said in the above post it will still make one fantastic bike at £205 initial outlay for a great frame in what appeared to be exceptional condition given the age.
