Words of wisdom mate, i know you're right. I've got a much nicer stem in the post though, I should just be patient.

The hubs i got were a bit of a disappointment. The front one despite saying excellent condition were, as I'd hoped to avoid, victims of the cracked flanges my local bike shop guy had warned me of.

Get in touch with Hope. They are very good and I've heard of them replacing even old hubs on their 3rd owner.

aw bollocks really? sigh. nah i sent it back already. the guys given me the money back now too. i was tempted to ring them actually see if they had a spare hub body hanging around cos the axle and bearings were fine. I'll just carry on looking i guess

The forks arrived! I've borrowed a stem temporarily from the old Raleigh that appeared downstairs, I like the way it looks but it's going to be replaced when the new stem arrives from the states. But for now the bike is rideable and 99% finished so here it is.
