Spotted on the street

I cycle to work along part of the Oxford towpath and often see some interesting bikes belonging to the narrowboats and houseboats moored there. They change through the year as people move about so theres always something new.

This Columbia was clearly a budget machine but the yellow looked good in the sunshine. Can't believe how thin the seatpost is and the fork clearance is also something to behold.

And a (much nicer!) 531 Carlton with lovely orange guards.

Waitrose delivers once again

At least this Vetta didn't have the hanger sawn off on the way to singlespeed life. Much of the other detail is the usual horror show; stem wedge barely hiding under that top nut, horrendous tape, saddle smashed all the way back. The cherry on the cake was spotting the Ofmega Mistral crankset and Campag (I think) quills attached to this mess. Makes me weep.

Jesus...if you saw the owner, you'd really have to have words about that stem, wouldn't you? I would think just braking hard would risk an immediate face-plant when it pops out of the frame 😬
