KONA HOT with xt and Mani 2's 150 bucks

The seller has done the right thing, the bike is worth far more than he innocently asked. Personally I'd feel a bit uncomfortable about going to meet the guy and handing him $150 for a bike that I knew was worth $500.

yeah, getting a bargain sucks.

I know what you mean, but there's a difference between winning an open auction at a bargain price and deliberately exploiting somebody's innocence. When dealers go around exploiting the innocence of little old ladies by paying well under the odds for valuable antiques that they've inherited and don't know their value, we call them con men.

And I don't believe for a moment either you or Kevin would do that.

There is a huge difference between the example you've given and the scenario surrounding this Hot, (or any other vrc bike put up for sale by its owner). The owner of the bike has set an asking price, and to give him his asking price is not exploiting him. If he didn't know an asking price, and asked you to give him what you think it's worth, and you give him $150, knowing full well it's worth much more, then that would be exploiting his "innocence".
As is, his "innocence" or rather, his ignorance is not being exploited. For all we know, he received that bike for a dirt cheap price or free, and to make $150 from it, he feels satisfied.

I could go on....for instance, your ebay example, can be played differently as well, perhaps the person bidding/snipping at a steal of a price is taking advantage of another ebayers' inexperience or "innocence" in not knowing the real value of a bike or part, or the proper way to protect their item's value by setting a reserve. Should a prospective buyer say, "hey, you should set a reserve on that item, just incase it doesn't get the exposure it needs, etc..."

Basically, there is nothing wrong with antique hunting, or vrc bike hunting, and getting a great deal, by giving someone their asking price on an item they are selling.

Off topic, but if anyone on here wins this, could they please sell me the saddle?

Presuming of course that they don't want to keep it as-is...

Looks like I have a 3rd Kona to add to the stable!

Was watching this all week and wasnt sure wether or not to go for it. Stayed up to see the expected bid action and nothing happened. Stuck in an asking price bid with 30 secs to go and won it!

No idea what to do with it, but looking forward to it arriving - I hope it fits as I fear it may be a touch too big!

Well done buddy.

A great bike. I am not a huge fan of the colour - I think the one in the catalogue looks stunning if you fancy a paint job!!

Glad you got a good deal - I was pretty surprised at the price!

Kona size 19 is intended for height 5-9 to 6-3. Maybe a shorter stem would help!

That's quite a bargain, at least by UK standards, although I guess the fancier paint jobs are always going to raise the most cash. But we had a few 94/95 Cinder Cones go for more than that last year, so $350 for a Teesdale Hot seems all wrong. And a 96 Lava Dome fetched £413 = $600! And it had kept its original P2s too, although it did have decent kit. You never can tell.

Yeah I try to keep my eye out for really good deals. I don't feel like paying up the ass for some things. But some times they just want to get rid of it without the hassle.
