Kona Hot what to do????

I always wanted a Hot to add to my collection, always wanted a stars and stripe one but not seen any for sale for a long while now.

This one came up for sale in my size, so snapped it up.

Now what to do? Condition is fair, has a dent on chainstay, and top tube, also chips and scuffs.

Do I touch up paintwork ? Or do I go respray route?

If I go respray route , do I go with star and stripe on it?

From that pic and seeing it on eBay, the condition looks ok. It wouldn't bother me and it's why you got it for a good price. I like it how it is. I'd definitely just touch it up. The decals date it to '93. Also, a TET Hot can't be Stars n Bars.

Do you have a build in mind? I'd probably go simple: p2s & m900. I think silver components will suit it best.

p.s. Have you seen the '97 Stars on eBay? Maybe too small for you cos it's an 18"

If you're going down the repaint route I wouldn't go with the stars and bars. I think it would be a PITA to replicate accurately and would certainly be very expensive.

I think it may be a difficult paint scheme to replicate but if it's what you wanted .....go for it !

Swap for yours mate??

Will keep forks on it and maybe go with some m900 parts.

Yeah saw the 18" one but too small for me

Yeah probably right, I know a guy that could do respray for me.

Echoing above I'd avoid trying the recreate the stars and bars, especially since you have a pretty unique schema already! Build it up and enjoy it. Very curious to know how these handle and ride compared to the other top of the range Kona's.

Stars and Stripes is one I have always wanted, maybe I keep a eye out for one still and keep this as it is.
