Well there was I about to add my first post, shamelessly spamming my eBay listing and someone's beaten me to it. Thanks for that ernie!

I'm also listing a few other bits that came with the original bike and some nice Suntour Self-Energising cantilevers that were an upgrade, before I put the Hopes on of course.

Let me know what you think peeps!

I got myself a Rocky Mountain Blizzard frame on sale a year ago. I've been slowly building it whenever I see great deals (almost all of them from Merlin Cycles as it happens), then transferring all the replaced parts to the Kona as I go.

Having completed the Blizzard I've got sweet 2 chromoly hard tails with 4" forks and discs. Being too vain to take the classic rig over the new one I decided to offer it up to someone that would appreciate it.

To be honest the Blizzard is a much stiffer ride than I was hoping for. I think it's due to being full 853 but I'm getting used to it the more I ride. It's pretty brutal around White's Levels I can tell you!

I'm up to 11 watchers on it (probably all from here), so between all the listings I'm hopeful to get enough cash for a new flat screen in my front room, so whether it's a 19" Technica or a 37" Samsung is up to you lot!

That looks a nice build, shame you have to sell it.
I like the C2's,ive been looking for another set for ages.I've been through 5 or 6 sets all described as 'fully working' only to find the inevitable sticky out piston.Fun to service when they havent been looked after.
Top marks to yourself for keeping on top of the maintenance 8) 8) 8)
Look after them they just go on and on.

PS
Welcome to the forum :D

Yeah I found that lots of people have trouble keeping these working. Mine are drag-free so it can certainly be done.

I found that when you get a little drag it's because dirt gets behind the brake pad. Pull them out and get in there with a toothbrush, rub the back of the pad on some sand paper and re-install

I also found that they don't like to be left upside-down, or even the bike laying flat. If that happens the air from the master cylinder seems to get down the hose but burp the brakes (take the cap off and stroke the lever slowly to release air), push the pistons home and they're perfect again. Simple when you know how but it did take me a couple of years to pin down the proper procedure

Thanks for the welcome, I may not be on a Retro at the moment but my Rocky Mountain steel hardtail IS Retro, it's just not actually old

I think they should start producing clear hoses so at least you can see the bubbles.I like to tap the caliper and hose to help things along

Actually the main problem with the C2's is that people dont replace the pads often enough and dont wash road film or salt off after use
.They screw out the pistons and the weather causes corrosion on its sides. This now roughened area then drags dirt/grit inside the caliper and forces it into the seal seating.
the spring washers[behind the piston]can also weaken a bit,its a good idea to fit newones when servicing them, and especially if you have piston damage, because it really forces them back.

That's an awesome idea!

The top-est tip I had for bleeding (without the bleed-kit of course), is to close the brake lever slooooowwwly, like 4-5 seconds from fully extended to touching the grip. Then once you've closed the nipple, release it just as slowly.

I have no idea why but it's worked on brakes that seem to suffer from eternal air-in-the-fluid syndrome. You know those brakes that seem to be fixed on the first ride after a bleed, then have air on the next?

It's a tip from an old car / motorbike mechanic (not me), and most certainly works on problem jobs.

So it ended last night at £280 plus £15 to post it up to South Yorkshire which I'm pretty happy with. Was it anyone on here I wonder?

All the other bits went too. The Project2 forks went for £31 + £14 post as they're going to Germany! All the rest are being posted around England. No locals collecting which I was kind of hoping for, especially on the bike. It would have been good to join the new owner for a lap of Cwmcarn!

Now to decide what TV I can get with the funds...
