ok kona fans i have a kona frame the frame number is 31391 it has a 1" head tube and an ovalised
seat tube where it meets the bottom bracket.
any ideas?
They had stopped using the 1" headtube by 1991, if it is U brake that will make it '88, I think by '89 they had gone canti, ovalised sounds like an Explosif
Several models have the seat tube ovalised down by the BB. I had a feeling that a couple of models might have kept the 1" head tube for a little longer too?

The serial number seems to be missing the first letter indicating where it was made :?
If the number is correct it would suggest it was made in '93 but the following 13 is strange. I've only seen this number go up to 12 indicating which month of the year it was built, are you sure you have the correct number? Kona stopped using 1" head tubes across the line after '90, however I can't be certain on the few following years for the lower end frames such as the Hahanna. My '91 Fire Mountain has a 1 1/8" head tube.
I lot of hype is made about an ovalized seat tube near the bottom bracket but this can be seen on anything from a Fire Mountain to an Explosif over the early years on these Tange frames. A pic of the shape of the ovalization would help not to mention pics of the whole frame
