Kona colourway question

Retro Newbie
Hello all, I'm hoping one of you retro gurus will be able to end my confusion!

I've just picked up a '90s Kona Lava Dome and looking online, I'm pretty sure it's a '96 model as the specs match (LX rear, STX front/chainset, Curve/High Command brakes/levers, Gripshift) and the decals look right, but all the catalogues I've seen say it was available in 'Lava Orange'. This is kind of a metallic forest green like the '94 model and it looks like original paint, not a respray.

Any ideas?

Certainly a '96 in original paint in my opinion and, other than the tyres, original components too. Looks to be in really good condition. Kona's of that era quite often had colour variations, sometimes based on where they were sold. Maybe it was for the European market. Probably a bit less common than the orange version , but here is a couple more in the same colour as yours...

Ah, that's good to know. Thanks very much. I did suspect it might have been a Euro thing but one of the catalogues I looked at was German and also had the Orange colour scheme.
Yeah, it's in amazingly good nick. The previous owner had it from new and it looks like he's never taken it off-road - the front tyre is the original Sniff which shows you how little action it's seen!
