Looks lovely

Kona really got it right with their '96 range, the colours just seem sublime and the decals are so right 8)

agree, very lovely :D

also one of a few ads at ebay, where the seller knows how to advertise perfectly the goods he's selling - lets see if it reflects in the selling price.

honest discription too, guess it was still on stock at the shop in 1997 and was upgraded to V's, as the OE spec 96 CinderCones had Cantis and to sell the bike it would be vital to upgrade. Cantis where oldfashioned on 1997
But who ever made this mods, why he did not cut the cables to the right lengh :?

As the bike does still wear the sniff/scratch tyres would indicate, that it was not driven that much in its life.

Maybe I'm lucky and I can add one of them in the future to my collection of 96 Konas

That's a cracker and no mistake, it was my 2nd CC back in the day until it was sadly nicked in 1997. The colour is amazing although I never understood why they call it gauge green or something like that in the catalogue. It's gold and a proper gold as well. It looks brilliant in the sun.

But as mentioned, what on earth was he doing with the cables?!

I suspect that they called it Gange Green because it reminded them of the colour of the water in the River Ganges. Notoriously not a very clean river, the River Ganges.

Fair enough, but it's defo gold isn't it  I know I'm baised, but aquamarine of 95, the gold of a 96 and the deep blue of the 97 - that's three really distinctive colours. The egg plant of 98 was just...meh

'All that glisters is not gold.'

And certainly whatever it is that gives the Ganges its colour is not precious. :?

But I agree it's a nice colour for a bike.

I like egg plant myself. Much more subtle than plain old black.

They could have called it aubergine, but Americans don't know the word aubergine and in any case you'd have the same problem as Rocky Mountain had with the Equipe, that the majority of buyers couldn't pronounce it.

The worst one though is the Raceface Deus range. A large majority of owners call it Dues. You can see an advert with a picture clearly showing the letters D E U S, and it's still referred to as a Dues. Don't people go to schoool any longer?

Mind you I own three Kilaueas. Not Kileaus, not Kilueas, not ...., oh never mind.
