Kona cable guide/stop

I have a '94 Kona Kilauea fitted with v-brakes so obviously the original dog collar cable guide has gone and I have one of the hinged clamp-on cable stops.

These look rubbish. I remember when I fitted them (back in the day) my mate had found a dog collar style cable stop for his Kona and I've noticed a few bikes on here (e.g. andy.l's Lava Dome) have one fitted.

My question is - does anyone know who makes/made them and what are my chances of finding one?

kona canti cable guide

If you're after a kona canti cable guide: Sunset cycles had some, priced about £6 I think. They weren't kona, but were cable guides with a diameter of 30/31mm.

Funnily enough, I've got one on the sideboard, can't make up my mind whether to sell it or not. Came off a 96 bike that also has V-stops and I can't see why anybody in their right mind would be so retro that they would prefer to put cantis on a bike that was designed for Vs. What's not retro or period-correct about 96 XT Vs on a 96 Explosif?

Mind you I have Vs on my 94 bike, so I don't score many retro points there.

Thanks for the info, I've just read what I wrote and just realised I wasn't too clear on what type I wanted.

I'm after the cable stop type as I'm keeping the V brakes but wanted to ditch the nasty clamp on cable stop.

I'm sure the one my mate had was machined and looked really neat. Although I'm thinking of respraying the frame so I might just get another stop brazed on.

If you are going to have your frame resprayed and wanted to carry on using v-brakes on the Kona frame, I think it will be best to have another cable stop brazed on top tube, it will make life easier, I would do the same if I wanted v-brakes. Argos do them £8 per cable stop brazed in.
