Any ideas? Was attached to the nice 36T Middleburn ring that will clean up beautifully and all sorts of old LX stuff that is knackered! I love the groove under the top-tube where the cable runs!

Has the groovetube so it is at least something quite good, the 1992 catalogue has the Karakoram onwards with it, and the tubeset on that is True temper GTX tubing

Which means that South Bound's inbox is filled with messages from pleasant, helpfull souls willing to haul the 'knackered' thing away free of charge! :)

When did they change from internal routing to the groove tube?

I only ask 'cos my Karakoram has proper internal cable routing and I've never been sure of it's age other than it's early. :?

Needs stripping and a decent rust treatment. Funny thing was the headset and BB came out easily and were still well greased while the non-drive crank bolt had rotted in the bb thread. Sad, just left outside to die. May as well have put it in a bag with some bricks and thrown it in the canal.

I might get it blasted and get it a quick coat of black or white or red and see how it looks unless anyone else wants to play.

Bit of a state mate, but you are welcome to it if you do as nice a job as the others...

If it's 26.8 seattube, 73mm BB shell then I concur it's a Karakoram from about 94. Originally translucent red or blue and with M737 XT and a stiff fork.

I've got one of these in 16". Not my favorite ride but I beat it into the ground couriering on it. And it's still solid.

I've a '94 Karakoram which has the groove tube and originally full LX groupo, so this could very well be :D
I've changed a few little things since the pic was taken but the frame has been used for XC, DH and commuting duties and has never let me down :D
