i have a 1996/97 Klein Attitude fram that i am about to start work on - it's a beautiful "burnt sand" colour with internal cable routing ..... and i need help from you Klein masters on here ........ is it a Klein built or a Trek built do you know ? where can i find an exact spec for the original ?? does it need a special bottom bracket ? etc etc

thanks in advance for your help

I think it's a 'Trek' owned/built frame. 94 was the last Klein/Klein I think. A picture or two would help

'97 Attitude Comp
- Colour: Burning Sand
- Fork: RS Indy SL
- Components: Deore LX and Bontrager

Trek bought Klein in late 1995 but couldn't affect much in 1996 line. 1997 the cost-cutting started more widespread and many changes were made to the frames. So your Attitude is Klein-made but Klein was already owned by Trek, so it's not "Pre-Trek model".

Yours does have a normal threaded BB shell instead of pressed-in BB. The headtube is normal 1 1/8" and the rear brake cable routing is made for V-brakes instead of cantilevers in earlier years' models.
They saved on paintjobs in 1997 and for example the Burning Sand color is a 2-color linear fade and like a poor-man's version of Painted Desert theme. Attitude Race's color was like Sea & Sky without the green part.

Since there was no Painted Desert color available in 1996, I doubt that you have a real 1996 MC2 Attitude but I'd be happy to be wrong.

as Kai said, probably an Attitude Comp like this

nice frame which still has most of the pre-Trek features as it is a somewhat modified pre-Trek Pulse frame and - most important - still the lovely riding characteristics.
