Klein Rascal

have you seen the klein bb thread yet ? carston the klein guru posted a home made klein bb tool on there !! it looks quite simple to make and im sure i will make it when i need to maintain my bb, how did you remove yours ? how are you going to put it back in ?

Thanks :)
I think I was on this site a few months back searching about the bottom bracket.
On mine I screwed a crank nut into the spindle and hit it with a hammer, it came free quite easily. But both bearings were stuck firmly on the spindle, I had to knock the whole lot out as one piece. You have to be careful as you need to align the top bearing with the bottom bearing face which is a bit tricky. As long as it goes in straight it should be ok.
You need to drill out the rivets for the cable guide first if both bearings are stuck on the spindle. The bearings were then removed as in the post above.
I now have new bearings and the sticker kit from the guy in the USA reccomended by Carsten.

I will be putting it back in with a hammer as well.
To align the spindle I will probably pack lots of washers on the spindle and tighten a crank bolt on it to pull it through.

It's come out a bit grey.
It's nothing like the colour it's meant to be!

Just needs sanding down in the morning and then lots of laquer! Followed by even more sanding and polishing!

Just need to find where to get the Teflon cable liners now!
I've tried Yellow Pages, Yahoo etc. The only places I can find that sell it, won't do less than 30 meters at a silly price!
Any ideas?

i could do with about 1m of that teflon liner too, so perhaps we should put a thread in the wanted section !! i did ask about this b4 and someone sent me a link, but i cant find it at the moment.
cheers

Does anyone know the ID and OD of the Klein Teflon cable?

ID is such that a thicker brake cable fits through and OD shouldnt be more than the size of the holes in the frame. the hole in the bridge on the seat stays is a good guideline. the Nokon liners should work, i think others have used those in the past as replacements. they are just not the "right" color.

there are other liners available that are used to protect open running cables. 2 meters for 2 euro. only in black as well

the liner Klein has used are milky clear high pressure hydraulic teflon tubes which can be purchased but usually only in large quantities.

Ok, thanks.
I looked at some Nokon liners today and they seem to need a smaller diameter inner.
I've just sent an email to about 10 companies about PTFE liners, so I'll see if I get any reply's.

It's now fully resprayed, and part built up.
