Hi :)

I need help :) Iam building a -92 klein Rascal that i would like to mount V-Breaks on. The thing is that i cant find any nice solution for this mounting issue.... :(

Does anyone know how to salve this nice?

Br,

there are about a zillion threads on that topic here and on other forums. search for klein AND v-brakes

the easiest solution is to drill the cable exit hole a bit larger (5mm) and run the cable housing through the frame and let it stop against the cable entry. you can also drill the cable entry hole larger and run the housing from the lever to the brake through the top tube but then you cannot go back to cantilever brakes. drilling the top tube will reduce the "collectors" value of the frame and once it's done it's done but maybe you don't bother. if you drill it be very careful to NOT damage the paint...

there are other solutions like cable stops attached to the seat post clamp and using roller links

they all work but are not readily available and need some DIY work.

but why do you want Vbrakes on the rear at all? good and properly adjusted cantis with Koolstop pads are more than powerful enough on the rear...

HI Carsten!

I do not want to drill though.... But were can i buy the roller thing?
I just want v-Breaks beacause i have two pairs :) and i have m950 on the rest of the bike. thats why

Thanks!

those roller thingies were available long ago but i haven't see one for sale since long. try to have one custom made...

you can also build a cable stop out of such hangers that attach to the seat post clamping bolt

as i've said, nothing is readily available and you will need to find a custom made solution if you don't want to drill.

you can also run the housing from lever to brake and attach it to the outside of the top tube with zip ties...

imho none of those solutions is worth the hassle just to run vbrakes on the rear.

Contact Larry at bike tools etc. and ask him for the "Klein brake thingie" and he'll know exactly what you're talking about. Search threads on mtbr if you want to see more about it. I have one, but haven't yet used it.
