When members wether old or new ask for help or advice, the community betters itself by appreciating we are a community of fellow hobbyists and bikers and as such we help each other out.

Your comment of don't put up a thread and ask someone else to do the job for you. Do as the rest of us and find out yourself:

If you had any class you would refrain from using that type of language. No serious members of this community that you claim to hold in such high regard, use words like that.

...and you are right. This is a forum where people can get answers from other members when they are stuck or need information they can't easily find.

But to expect from the same members that they would write down a complete list of the different Klein's and where they rank individually, just because you are to lazy to find out yourself, well that's just plain rude isn't it?

....and being rude seems to be an integral part of your character, doesn't it? I have never subjected anyone to any kind of abuse on this forum and especially not related to one of my Klein bikes.

That's just you making something up in order to justify your own behavior.

You should definitely apologize for this behavior!

The benefit of this thread is that stuff like this can be clarified

So far as I know, attitude came out in 1990, top gun was top of the line before then, 1988/89

Mountain kleins up to 88

Top gun is known for the red white and blue paint, known as patriot, highly possible there are rascals in this same colour way*

Rascals came to replace pinnacles*

I read something purported to have been told by Gary? in that when he started with top gun, paramount put the block on it in case anyone confused the film with a bike so one of the managers suggested why not call it a rascal instead??

That was why I was unsure on the rascal/top gun transition . The idea of the thread is that many use archives and most bike manufacturers have a entry level model then showing the range going upwards to the top model and I wondered if Klein followed the same hierarchy style/

Sooo, Specifically, what do you guys have against Trekliens? I had a 2000 Attitude which I always believed was built in the Klein factory. It was a great ride, light, fast and a real looker that I was proud to own, ride and upgrade. It did 6 Polaris', 2 C2C', about a dozen Trailquests and probably hundreds of rides all over Britain, France and Spain. It completed about 10 long distance races here in Spain with a couple of podiums for yours truly. I couldn't fault the welds or the paintwork either.

I only replaced it when I discovered that long forked hardtails with disk brakes suited my riding and the local conditions better.

In a similar vein there is a [Trek] G. F. Supercaliber for £30 with no interest on the >97 forum. A truly great frame IMO.

I'm not trying to be controversial here as I honestly would like someone to explain it to me.

I don't think any one has anything against TreKleins. They are basically Treks with Klein badging but as such are perfectly fine bikes and your perfectly correct to ask.

The key here however is the forum is called retro bike, so there would an understandable interest in the original Kleins. Bikes by Gary Klein is where the interest is but not only on the bikes/paint but also as one of the early pioneers of proper mountain biking. Combine the two and you have what Trek does not.

Were some not confused over the pricing and trying to sell TreKleins at Klein prices then I would have an TreKlein certainly.
