Just been gifted a Quantum frame and forks - thanks dad
Also has ITM stem and bars, Stronglight h/set, Thomson post, Ultegra brakes, Campag BB, Campag front mech, and a weird Gipiemme ti shelled saddle. Oh, and some matching blue Mavic Cosmos wheels.
It's been hanging in his shed for about 10 years. I *think* he bought it from a friend in France.
Anyway, the frame number is 59I0896162. I'm guessing that means: 59cm frame, built August 1996, no. 162 built that month.
It has no model name on it, so how do you tell if it's a Quantum Race, Quantum Pro, or a Quantum II?
*Edit* answered my one question
Having just looked at the Klein catalogues the 1996 bikes don't have the separate seat collar, but the 1997 ones do. So it must be a made in 1996, sold in 1997 model. Also it looks like it's the Quantum Race as it doesn't have the integrated headset.
I've got a 9spd Campag Mirage group set that I'll put on it until I can source something better, maybe Ultegra to keep it period correct?
