Klein Press fit BB's

Got a nice Klein Pinnacle that I acquired off here and was pondering if anyone has a suggestion to replace the Press fit BB with a more serviceable option? I wondered about a Mavic with the angle lockrings and getting the shell chamfered to match? Any thoughts gang?

Press fit is the best mechanical way to design a BB.
A lot of manufacturer are starting to do it, like shimano.

If you are looking for parts for you klein, there is a german brands selling parts for it.

No its not, a real pain to fit and don't last five minutes imho.

What doesn't last five minutes? Mavic or Klein?

Unless your BB is real crunchy, don't replace it. Let it go until you really notice it, the bearings wearing a bit won't hurt anything. A Klein BB will last a very, very long time. I've yet to have to replace one although it might be getting close on my primary bike.

The Klein ones, maybe It's just me, but water gets into the seals from both the frame and external sides then the balls go rusty. Never had any problems with Mavic ones though. The bearings in this frame are totally shot.

hmm, never had that problem with the better quality SKF or FAG bearings. i still prefer the press-fit bb for it's simplicity and once you've learned how to replace them it is not that labour intensive and the good bearings are only a few bucks (insert your currency).
anyways, the bb shell can be threaded in that italian size. BSA is too small but italian works. but better check first if you can get the required bottom bracket as you cannot go back.

www.reset-racing.de offers really nice alternatives with splined spindles if you fancy such cranks.
