depends on which cook cranks you are going to use. the old ones 125-130mm. the newer ones less.

hi carston,

what about these ..............

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31644.

i assume i need 125mm - 130mm axle for these then ?
what width is a standard axle on a 92 rascal ?
cheers andy

yeah, those would require 127mm or better 130mm (depends on the chain ring size too). there's no standard but many Rascals came with a 122mm spindle for the XT M730 cranks. can't you measure it?

page 23 shows a table with recommended spindle lengths

so what cranks are on there now?

actiontec still sells plane 17mm spindles

either from cambria

http://www.cambriabike.com/action+tec+parts.asp

or from actiontec directly

http://www.actiontec.us/attack.htm
http://www.actiontec.us/prices.htm

phil wood too

http://www.philwood.com/crank%20axles.htm

oh, firstflight too but only selected lengths

http://www.firstflightbikes.com/cranks-p.htm

or ask Klein dealers who are long enough in the business. poshbike maybe?

Carsten

thanks again carston,
i i will check thorough those links tomorrow, and see if i can buy a 17mm by 130mm spindle,
the cranks that are on it now are original XT cranks, as in the pics in my gallery.

cheers andy

I have a 125mm bb on my 90 klein attitude with a cook bros RSR crank. There's no problem with the length.

are you running a 46 tooth outer ? have you still got room to fit a 48 tooth ?

I only use a 46 tooth.
For the 48, I haven't got strong legs enough !

For the 43 tooth, there's enough space around, and between the chainring and the frame.
