I wish I had a hand for spray painting too! Made a bit of a mess of it rushing last night, plus the purple pearl colour on black I had selected looked a bit Trek era like :|
I take your point on the Adroit decal, maybe the other style would look better. I've had the mask kit for years with the intention of using it. A bit of rubbing down and reverting to a more standard metallic black is the plan at the moment.

agreed that with all the time and patience you have spent, you should source a correct decal and take your time on the paint!

The decal is on there for now as it is a mask and has been applied and painted over. I like the style of it, close to the text they used in 91.
My current plan is to finish painting the purple paint job I have started, take the paint masks off, then if happy clear coat. If it looks pants then or goes horribly wrong I will rub it down and get a 'more correct' Adroit decal and put it down to practice Klein used to just over spray existing paint jobs, I have a candy red attitude they sprayed over horizon linear fade.

The fork looks like this, the purple isn't as bad as I first thought after the paint miss hap. Could be an interesting colour with the white lettering and a clear coat?

lol yep nothing more "kleiny" than having a factory finish over another colour scheme!...other then klein I have never seen any other manufacturer do this.

Really enjoying this resto, I think the colour looks great even before the clear coat.
And I know what you mean about Klein repainting their bikes and bits....
My attitude HLF bars were previously gator !

Getting back on track now, paint problems fixed and more purple applied. The decal masks have worked well. Just the Clear coat process to get through, which I am a bit nervous about...

I hope to finish painting next week if all goes well. Then get the headset and fork fitted. There will be a bit of a pause before building it up as I am short of a few parts.

Finished the clear coat and its as good as i'm going to get it on this attempt!

Its not perfect but its time to build and ride before the summer is over!
