KHS Montaña Team, 1996

Some more bits in the post today, cleaned up nicely.

I'd already bought the Shimano levers, then spotted a bargain pair of Avid SD (less than a fiver!) on ebay. The latter came as stock so will be going with those I think...

Good ebay purchase for a tenner, will save me £15-a-time trip to the LBS. Bit fiddly to align but does the job well....

Test to check geometries. Reach is coming up some way shorter than expected (and my other bikes)...Will make it easier on the back, i guess....

Semi-happy with the cockpit.

I'd say the stem with quill adaptor is functional rather than elegant but, it does the job for now and gives me the rise I'll need to save the old back..... may look to change it longer term.

Sorted the stem out, it was too high. Much better now.

Postal delays on a few final parts, but have had it out for a gentle test spin, felt good...

On the way:
New front rim to match the rear
Alternative (cheaper) saddle for pub mode
Sammy Slick semi-slick tyres for day to day tootling round the roads

Sweet result! Love the colour and the way you matched it up!
I had no idea oven pride does that to anodising - if only I’d known this ...

And a curious question - it says made in Taiwan and made in USA ? Which parts are made where ?

It's a good question... very little info available online for this model and year (can't find a single other image of it). Previous owner says it was purchased in Hong Kong, so my best guess is this is US kit, perhaps assembled in Taiwan...? Who knows...

And, yes, the saddle is a good match....

Yes makes sense about the assembly - I remember aluminium raleigh RSP which were painted and assembled in England’s tubes were actually fabricated and welded in Taiwan - and im sure they had made in England on the frame somewhere (correct me if I’m wrong)

Re:

That’s come out perfect, just looks so ‘right’. The old school paint schemes really look good don’t they, better than a lot of modern stuff. Nice touch on the blue cable outers to match the pin striping on the frame, good attention to detail there.
Have fun on it.

Well spotted... and, thanks. I'm resisting the urge to get blue tyres... (or perhaps i should?!?)
