Kestrel MXZ... need info!

Hi, this is my first post. I was given a Kestrel MXZ today, and I took it to a local bike shop that has been in business since the 70's. I talked to one of the owners, and he told me that I have a very historic bike on my hands, and that I can make really good money off of it.

I do not mountain bike, but I am a road biker. How much do these bike's go for? It is in very good condition.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Make good money off it, well sort of (assuming you have low expectations of what good money is)

These are lovely bikes but haven't the biggest following in the retro world. There is one person on here with a couple of these who I'm sure will be able to help more but the usual advice on pricing is to put it on ebay at a 99p start and the market will find its level.

The hard thing with putting a price on bikes like this is that they come up so rarely that there is little to compare to but if you get 2 or 3 people after it you coulddo well, especially if it is all original with nice kit. This is why this, and other sites like MTBR, don't like to value bikes.

A great way of getting some interest would be to put some pics in readers bikes section so we can all see the bike and it's condition and all have an oggle!

A shabby MXZ frame will fetch about $300+ USD/ £160 GBP (thats about what I paid for both mine)frame and fork retailed for about £1250 back in 1989, the paint never lasted long on them even tho it was meant to hence most of them are shabby with a lot of paint loss, would love another someday to put an old deore LX groupset on and repaint lime green.
