Hi all,
purchased this off a local chap with the intention of stripping it down and giving it a good clean. It's a custom hand-built frame by John Fearn (sadly departed) some years ago here in Leicester.
I purchased it thinking I would use it as a winter trainer but I just love riding track bike too much which I'd like to prepare for winter so this has to go sadly. I've had it just over a month and done pretty much nothing, just given it a good check over and swapped a few bits. Mechanically it's 99% perfect. Chap I purchased it off received this as a gift when he was 15 or 16 and soon lost interest in it so it's had roughly a whole years worth of use since it was built in the 70s. It's very oily and grotty which is what's kept it all in good condition. It would do with a very, very deep clean and polish but it's all there. As you can see by the chainrings it's had little use. I've ridden this bike roughly 20 miles but I can't quite put my finger on why it rides so nice, the wheels spin forever and the gear changes are lovely.
It does however need a few niggly bits sorting out:
. new brake pads (if full price is paid I can install them)
. new rear mech cable
. rear mudguard adjusting
. left hand pedal has 1/2mm of play
. rear wheel is 8/10 true, nothing 5 minuets and a spoke key won't sort.
other than those things listed it's perfect. Recently received new rear innertube and bar-tape.
Frame size is 56cm top-tube (centre to centre) and 57cm seat-tube (centre of BB to top)
I'd like £250 posted for this bike please.
