Jellybean Salsa for sale...

ah...tis the old chestnut of the ethics of collecting, which might be worth a thread in itself.

my 2 pence? If you buy a bike to sell and profit from, rather than ride, then you're missing the point. However, if you sell for a price you're happy with then you give up any right to moan about what your buyer sells it on for.

Y'anyway...

If there's one thing I've learned about Jez's sale posts is that there are rarely, if ever, any bargains. Every item is around or over market prices. There's nothing wrong with that; all good capitalism.

But if you're selling items to Jez, as Ransetsu was, and you aren't forced to sell, i'd ignore any valuation Jez says. In fact, as a seller, you should ignore any spoken valuation, do your own research, then price appropriately.

Ethics ... feh. Simply do your research, be knowledgeable and know the market. No seller's remorse. No buyer's remorse.

If I saw one of my ex-possessions going for more than I'd sold if for I would feel very bad - not at the seller, but at myself for under-pricing it.

Values of vintage gear go up as well as down.

I see no grounds for belly-aching, or posting stuff like this over someone's for sale thread, use the PM.
