Japan YETIS

The ARC gray is clearcoat. I didn't used to think so and got into this argument before. I was wrong. Heck, I was looking at one of them at First Flight not too long ago.

Happy Birthday

I'm really starting to like the grey/turq scheme. I'm starting to think it is better than the turq/metallic silver on my AS, which is probably a bit over the top. I wonder if the ARC team colors will work on the Ultimate. :?

Now why do you have to do that N? It just makes me long for a "real" stem. ...that's not the one in the office, is it? Picture taken as Keyesville?

When the Ultimate gets here (UPS says tomorrow) I'll see what the late model decals are all about. If they are stickies maybe I'll just peel them off and replace them with "real" YETI ULTIMATE decals. Maybe throw a gen 2 Yetiman on the head tube and just powder an ATAC and that Accutrax for contrast. Looks like the downtube decals are cleared over? Paint looks to be in good condition, but I hate red. I'm kinda weird that way.

Love hijacking this "ebay" thread! 8)

.

Coincidentally, I've just repainted my FRO grey. It seems that this frame has had two repairs to date - one: the top of the head tube has had a forward-facing seatclamp inserted; two: I have had to repair a rust-induced split at the foot of the seat tube/bottom bracket shell. Still unsure of what year this frame as a result of these repairs - I note that it has no gusset/strengthening from the bottom bracket rearwards to the stays and suspect this is an earlier incarnation...?

Heading for a similar look to the ARC - Manitou 1s (unless Santa brings those Bradbury versions over) and a light sprinkling of purple ATAC and Ringle.

Looks great Neil

Understood the PATCO steel FROs happen to have the characteristic of cracked seattubes. Later Tange Pro FROs were sturdier frames.

I think the gusset was added near the mono-chainstay, because of some failures with older frames.

noahs right, the team issue frames were clearcoat. why? powdercoat is really heavy. same reason as the angled top of the quill atac stem on team bikes. to loose weight.

ameybrook is also correct. some frames are worth preserving/owning even if broken. sharky pete was more than pleased with the cracked bradbury manitou a few years back as a classic example :)
