James May on Top gear

Did anyone see sundays Top Gear.

James May made the suggestion of locking up other peoples bike with locks, which Clarkson agreed with. Richard Hammond really disagreed with this, but he is a cyclist.

This somewhat made me rather angry, I called him a cock on my Facebook wall!

We all know that scum put glue in locks, to get an excuse to steal.

Do you think I over reacted? Rant over!

i like topgear, i like james may. didn't like what he said. although i do think they don't realise that it is done by thieves to make people leave their bikes so that they can later steal the bike.

my attitude with this is like when clarkson said about shooting rioters, everyone knows they don't mean it and they wouldn't do it so on that basis i don't get upset about it.

if we did get upset about it we'd be those sad bastards who start writing letters to the bbc and we'd be in that group of numpties that a few years ago we would have pointed and laughed at for being sad bastards!

:)

What Jonnyboy said.

I love Top Gear, and I was laughing just as hard as the three of them.
You really should know better than to take them seriously.

I thought it was only Clarkson who relied on provocative jokes to get a response? Hope May and Hammond don't start lowering themselves to this kind of humour. I can just about understand such things from Clarkson as he's always done it, but not the other two please.

The lot of them are totally compromised.

May does great shows. Needs to shed the olde English vibe.

Hammond does populism well. Not hindered by his accident.

Clarkson is a pure anachronism, less relevant than the paper he is written about in.

he did say those poundland combination locks, which to be fair a 5 year old could crack in 3 mins. If your bike has another lock put on it, why not try leaving yours on aswell  . I was laughing along with them.

In the case of this being done with malicious intent, because you come back to find either:
A: Your bike gone after the thieves have had more time to work on getting your lock off.

-Or-

B: Your bike stripped of components by the time the sun rises.

If you find some one has locked your bike with their own lock, I would seriously start looking for a set of bolt cutters/locksmith, whilst informing the local PD of my actions.

(Off topic and somewhat incidental but apparently this is the 5000th thread I have commented on!)

The rather unfortunate thing is, if everybody correctly viewed it as the pantomime it truly is, then it could all be laughed off as attempts at humour, but rather unfortunately for as all, there are many viewers of programmes like Top Gear, and the presenters, when in-character, that many truly buy into.

If it wasn't for the that - and Clarkson himself described them as gorillas, didn't he - then it could just be another themed entertainment programme, just like WWE wrestling, really.

I know May was just joking around but there are some herberts out there who previously hadn't thought of this 'wheeze' who may well act on it and laugh away on some facebook/twitter page

TopGears a great laugh but the presenters do need to think before sticking their feet in their mouths.
