I've got a weird idea brewing!

I'd defo go for the 1992 Marin look with rear tri, forks, bar and stem done in the same colour. Not sure what that colour is though.

Thanks for all the comments chaps looks like we're all thinking alike thanks especially to orange for the details of the company to do the fitting.

I won't comment on the style element, but just to say that I fitted some 410mm P2's onto a 1994 Pine Mountain and it handled really nicely. It was better than with a Marin fork, which was too slow - fine for all day rides but a bit uninspiring.

The tab B3 is showing is a good design because it spreads the load along the fork.

Has anyone noticed the word 'spinner' stamped into the forks in the first post. Dont think they a are P2's. Thought P2's were alloy anyway?

I've always liked the feel and look of these old Marin's, the only reason I want to do this really is the near perfect finish matches between the main frame and the rims and XT M737 and these old XT disc brakes I've got in storage, I'll add some pictures tomorrow.

Thanks again to orange for pointing me in steven shands direction, had a chat with him today and he really seems to know his stuff.

Thanks also to others who have offered but I'm sorted now, it's going to be a while before this progresses as he's very busy but I think it'll be worth the wait, I've seen some of his work and it looks great.

P2s were originally a Spinner design. They've never been alloy, assuming you mean aluminium alloy - chromoly steel is an alloy too :)

I wouldn't completely give up on finding a colour match for that frame - there was that phase not long ago of cars coming in various fairly lurid metallics, one of them might be sufficiently close. I'm sure I've seen Puntos or something in a similar colour. It'd look great with the forks matching :)

What a great idea, Marin frames are nice and understated/rated, gives me an idea too actually. Nice clean colour too that. 8-)

As it goes I've found a tatty Team Marin frame so if I get it I think I'll do it to that one instead, can't bring myself to damage this finish.
