It's the spare parts winter build thread

Re:

All of the spare parts builds including yours Jimo, look better than mine but if mine looked good nobody would believe I built them

Re:

Errr.... I don't actually have a "spare parts build", it's just that all my bikes look like they were bodged together with parts from the spares bin

Re:

Any progress folks, its all gone a bit quiet around here??

Jimo you've clearly reached a higher plane with your bike building skills where you don't even have to build or post any pic's of a bike for you to receive compliments, hats off

I think I still have all the bits of this concoction I built for SSUK a few years ago, but I'm never using those tyres again. :)

Love the head tube badge.
Brave man running those tyres! They were bad enough in the '90s, can't imagine how awful the compound is now its aged.

Scared barely describes the experience of riding with them...

Been scrabbling through the attic and found almost enough to build this up again - except the wheels which I donated to my son's girlfriend for her pink 1x1 (ex Jamie).

A set of drum brakes may have to complete the picture.

Oh, and I suppose I'd better not use the Gates belt drive. I'll see if I have enough bits left of a '90s experiment with it.

Is that a SSUK 09 number plate I see? That was a Stella year I believe ;)
Belt yes, tyres no.
Some of these are looking really good, some people certainly have have some nice spare parts boxs :)

Re:

I'm liking the custom decals Epicyclo :D . Those semi-slick racing tyres are probably best kept for riding in california (or somewhere equally dry) not Dunkeld in the middle of winter

Re: Rat kona look !

Started this one a few weeks ago and no i will not be repainting it ,

Looking at putting Shimano U brake on the rear and Avid arch rivals on the front , out of cranks though may need help on that one ! OK might need a headset too :?

Re:

Nice starting point, love the forks.
Don't think a U-brake will fit though, they use a different stud to cantis/v-brakes.
