they may be a flowering plant but, "Species of Echium are native to North Africa, Europe, Madeira and the Canary Islands[2], but have also become invasive in southern Africa and Australia. One species, Echium plantagineum (Patterson's Curse), has become a major invasive species in Australia."

sounds like it's a wannabe weed to me :lol:

Very judicious use of your search engine :wink: we have tree echia from the canary isles (a large bi-ennial) and a ground covering variety native to england :wink: I did not have a damn computer until last christmas as I generally hate the bloody things :lol:

alright!

Perhaps the greatest defense of weeds is contained in the last stanza of Gerard Manley Hopkins' poem Inversnaid:

"What would the world be, once bereft,
of wet and wildness? Let them be left.
O let them be left; wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet."

sounds like he was discussing my garden :lol:
